Surface film behaviour at spring emergence — 02 April

Date

02 April 2026

Time

09:42

Conditions

Dry weather. No recent rainfall. Low flow conditions at the spring.

Location

Spring emergence and pooled areas within the upper watercourse.

Observation

A thin surface film was observed forming on pooled areas of water at and near the spring emergence.

The film appeared iridescent in places and was most visible in still or slow-moving sections.

When disturbed, the film broke into discrete plate-like fragments rather than dispersing smoothly.

The film did not immediately reform into a continuous surface layer following disturbance.

Evidence

Direct field observation of surface film behaviour.

Disturbance test carried out using a stick to observe response of surface film.

Photographs taken before and after disturbance.

Observed in multiple pooled locations within the upper system.

Status

Observation only
